Welcome Welcome to my blog! I love to take pictures, which is why I started my natural light portrait studio, Lynette Shavel Photography . Of course, I like to shoot all sorts of things, so this blog allows me to post whatever I find interesting. Clients might find a few sneak peek photos posted, but I'm just as likely to post vacation pictures or scenic shots of the surrounding Bucks County countryside. Check back often for new posts.

It wouldn't feel like Memorial Day without a parade, and we were lucky enough to have a reason to attend the Newtown, PA Memorial Day Parade. Josh just moved up this spring to Troop 380 based out of the Presbyterian Church in Newtown. His Uncle Mike is the dedicated Scoutmaster, and the troop was marching in the parade. Grammy and Pappy came up to watch with us. I have always wondered what would happen if there was actually a fire during a parade, when all of the firetrucks are winding their way through town on a parade route. Today I found out. The whistle blew, and the firemen, in their wool suits and white gloves, came sprinting back to the trucks, threw the boots/pants out into the street, and were dressed and ready to go within what seemed like less than a minute. Unbelievable. The quick-thinking groups in front of the trucks cleared out, and the trucks were on their way. So those guys are so well trained they really are ready to go on a moment's notice.

We played hookey (sp? on that?) today. I picked Rachel up at 11 a.m., and we headed to South Street, Philadelphia to have lunch at Johnny Rockets. They have the best malts in so many flavors - Rachel's was the best, Heath Bar Crunch. Then we strolled South Street. There weren't very many stores we could go in with the kids, and we had a hard time explaining why some were completely off limits! Still, the sun was shining and we had a great time.

I loved this alley off of 4th Street with the mosaic tiles. Rachel thought it was a little smelly.

Jim doing business in Johnny Rockets. Enough, already!

Josh was not in the mood to be photographed, so this was the best I got today.

Wow - this is my third website and blog design in two years, but I think I have finally hit on the one that I will be happy with. I love the clean design of this site, and the HUGE post displays. While I was changing things up, I decided to redesign my logo into something a little "happier" looking. Of course, now I have to backtrack and redo all my marketing materials (sigh).

So while I still have quite a bit of customizing to do on both sites, and I am itching to get out and shoot this beautiful spring (and catch up on grocery shopping, too), I just wanted to get my blog up and running. I hope you will add my site to your favorites, and check back often.

Below are some shots from Josh's birthday party at Trenton Thunder. They really do a great party. He got to throw out a ball at the beginning of the game, dance on the dugout with the mascot, and play on the inflatables throughout the game. He says it was one of his best parties ever, and I agree. Easy on us, too - a hot dog dinner was even delivered to us at our seats!
